The Window

The Window, 2009, pencil and gesso on vintage print, 8" x 5 1/2"

I realize I'm making a memory book. Always have, always will be.
Fifty-plus years to realize that. There is something to being a slow learner.

Spiritual Diary

Spiritual diary january 19 january 19 2009, ink on graph paper, 10" x 7"

A page from an ongoing, personal series. Time passes through us so quickly, and often we are far away from Spirit.

Love is the Key

Love is the key, 2007, pencil on vintage paper , 10" x 7 1/2"

In the midst of the flurry of winter, one needs to remember the important things. Above is a drawing I did for my mother's 80th birthday picturing her and her brother and sister, my uncle and aunt. My uncle, Marvin, died this past month; a life well lived with a generous spirit.

my lost tooth

My front tooth which has been very troublesome for some time came out today.

And I carried it with me for some measure of good luck, and if not for good luck than certainly for protection.

It was in my hand when I opened my fingers to the news seller saying take the fifty cents but leave the front tooth. He picked carefully among the coins—a quarter, two dimes, and a nickel-- but left the tooth and pennies. And the news? You might ask: was it good that morning? That is to say: did the front tooth bring fresh goodness and ward off misery?

This is hard to say. For certainly I found no notice of my death but caught a small article on my imprisonment. And yes, even the photo showed my gap-toothed astonishment.

The end of summer. The Light warms us even as Fall approaches. Remember this, you who are terrified.
